Founded in 1926, the Miss Danmark pageant began with its inaugural national crown awarded to Edith Jørgensen. For over five decades, from 1951 to 2003, a single titleholder was chosen annually to represent the nation across multiple premier international pageants. Management of the competition shifted to Memborg Models from 1986 to 2013.

The rights were later acquired in 2015 by Miss World Denmark 2008 Lisa Lents under the Miss and Mister Denmark Organization. Following this acquisition, the official Miss Danmark winner has exclusively competed in the Miss World pageant. Additionally, the organization held the Miss Earth franchise for a brief period, sending Danish delegates to that competition in 2013 and 2014.

Miss Danmark is based in Copenhagen, the capital city of Denmark. Originally a Viking fishing village established in the 10th century, the city has evolved into a global hub of culture, sustainability, and architectural innovation.

One of Copenhagen’s most defining traits is its world-class bicycle culture. With over 250 miles of dedicated bike lanes, more than half of its residents commute by bicycle daily, making it one of the cleanest and most livable cities on Earth. This commitment to the environment pairs beautifully with the Danish concept of hygge—a cozy, warm approach to life that can be felt in the city’s candlelit cafes, historic waterfronts, and bustling public squares.
