ONE Championship fighters Joshua Pacio, 22, of Baguio City, Philippines and Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit, 21, of Chiang Mai, Thailand will co-headline “ONE: Global Superheroes” on January 26, 2018. The latter is an undefeated professional mixed martial artist.
From 2013 to 2017, Pacio established a 10-2 professional MMA record. He once had an immaculate record but was tainted by Japanese fighters Yoshitaka Naito in 2016 and Hayato Suzuki in 2017 both via rear-naked choke submission.
Pacio is one of the fastest rising martial arts stars from the Philippines. He is one of the promotion’s most talented strawweights, a proud member of the famed Team Lakay and a wushu practitioner with a solid grappling repertoire.
All but one of Pacio’s 10 career victories have come by spectacular finish, including 5 wins by submission and 4 by devastating knockout. In his most recent bout, he knocked out veteran Roy Doliguez with a second-round spinning back fist.
A former ONE Strawweight World Championship title challenger, Pacio is looking to bring himself back to title contention with another victory. A tough task is ahead of Pacio, however, as he is slated to lock horns with an undefeated Thai opponent.
On the other hand, Mitsatit was a North Thailand Muay Thai champion with a 72-17 record, which included 49 KOs. Since making his professional debut in the cage, the strawweight has amassed an unblemished record of 9-0 with seven knockout triumphs and one submission victory, and made an immediate impact in ONE Championship with first-round finishes over Ye Thway Ne and Rabin Catalan.
“ONE: Global Superheroes” will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It will be headlined by Pacio’s fellow Team Lakay member Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 28, and Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhtemov, 30.
