ONE Championship athlete Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Both of his parents are from Vietnam.

Nguyen is the reigning ONE Featherweight and Lightweight World Champion. He is going for his third world title in the main event of “ONE: Iron Will” set for March 24, 2018 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand where he will take on the reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 37, of Brazil.

Days before the historic clash of champions, Nguyen and Fernandes spoke to the media. The Vietnamese-Australian two-division world champion expressed how he loves Thailand, which is home to numerous Muay Thai legends.

“Competing in Bangkok is a privilege,” Nguyen said. “Thailand is such a beautiful country. I can’t wait to showcase my skills to fans in Thailand.”

“There are a ton of Muay Thai legends in Thailand and martial arts owes a great deal to the country. I am proud to be among those legends,” the Australian-Vietnamese two-division world champion said. “This event is historic and the biggest night of my career.”

For Nguyen, it is an honor to be given the chance to show what he can do inside the cage in front of millions of fans who believe in him and support him. He said, “It’s an overwhelming feeling. Bibiano Fernandes is an absolute legend in martial arts and considered one of the best bantamweights in the world and it is an honor for me to test myself against him.”

With an aim to give the performance of a lifetime, Nguyen is working round the clock. The Sydney native noted, “All my matches ended within the distance, and I plan to end this one early too. I’m definitely looking to finish.”

“I know Bibiano will be the best opponent I have ever faced but I’m going to go in there and do my thing,” Nguyen continued. “I think I can catch him late and my youth and athleticism will be too much. It’s time to make history again.”

Four Thai fighters are on the “ONE: Iron Will” fight card namely Dejdamrong Sor “Kru Rong” Amnuaysirichoke, 39, Shannon “One Shin” Wiratchai, 29, Rika “Tiny Doll” Ishige, 28, and Kritsada “Dream Man” Kongsrichai, 26.
