Lima’s historic center is defined by ornate Spanish colonial architecture, including the imposing Cathedral of Lima and the historic Plaza Mayor. These landmarks reflect the city’s profound role as the former seat of power for the Spanish Empire in South America. Beyond the historic core, the seaside district of Miraflores offers striking contrasts, featuring modern high-rises, sprawling parks, and dramatic cliffs that overlook the vast Pacific.
