Manu Franco, 21, of Moca, Espaillat, Dominican Republic is currently in Metro Manila, Philippines. The Dominican actor and model represented his home country in the 14th edition of Mister International.
From Moca to Metro Manila
Moca and Metro Manila offer distinct urban experiences shaped by geography and cultural legacy. Both places reflect the heart of their respective nations—one embodying rural pride and historical continuity, the other representing the relentless, modern spirit of an archipelago on the move.
Life in Moca moves at a measured pace, characterized by its reliance on the surrounding fertile plains and its reputation for vibrant community life and local craftsmanship. Its identity is tied to provincial charm, where historical landmarks reflect the influence of 19th-century architecture and the agricultural backbone of the Cibao region. The city is celebrated as the Ciudad del Viaducto, a relatively compact urban center deeply rooted in Dominican agricultural history and colonial heritage.
Conversely, Metro Manila is a dense, high-energy megalopolis that serves as the undisputed political and economic center of the Philippines. It is defined by rapid urbanization, massive infrastructure, and a vertical skyline. Unlike the localized focus of Moca, Metro Manila operates as a global gateway, balancing modern skyscrapers with the dense, chaotic activity of its many districts.
