Madison Elizabeth Svetlana Kvaltin, 25, is originally from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. She is currently based in Manitoulin Island, Ontario.
In 2020, Kvaltin graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and business. Here is a glimpse of her journey from Miss Intercontinental 2016 to Miss World Canada 2021 to Miss Universe 2023:
Miss Intercontinental 2016
On July 24, 2016, Kvaltin finished in the Top 20 at Miss Teenage Canada 2016 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre of Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario. On August 21, 2016, she, Cricket Guest, then 18, Hannah Begovic, then 18, and 34 other candidates competed at Top Model Search Canada 2016 at the Holiday Inn in Toronto, Ontario.
As Top Model Search Canada 2016, Bejovic was crowned Miss Supranational Canada 2015. Guest, the second placer, was crowned Top Model of Canada World 2017, and Kvaltin, the third placer, was crowned Miss Intercontinental Canada 2016.
On October 15, 2016, Kvaltin represented Canada at Miss Intercontinental 2016 and competed against 62 other candidates at the Stein Studios in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She was unplaced.
The Miss Intercontinental 2016 crown was won by Heilymar Rosario Velázquez, then 19, of Puerto Rico. On September 30, 2021, she represented Toa Baja at Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2021 and finished in the Top 6.
Miss World Canada 2021
On October 3, 2021, Kvaltin competed against 39 other Miss World Canada 2021 candidates at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts in Richmond Hill, Ontario. She was unplaced.
It was Jaime VanderBerg who won the Miss World Canada 2021 title. Her runners-up were Miss Grand International Canada 2021 Mildred Rincon, Miss Supranational Canada 2021 Jessica Bailey, Miss Intercontinental Canada 2021 Rachel Arhin and Miss Earth Canada 2021 Jessica Cianchino.
Miss International 2022
On May 14, 2022, Kvaltin represented Sudbury at Miss Universe Canada 2022 and competed against 53 other candidates at the Meridian Arts Centre in Toronto, Ontario. She was runner-up to Amelia Tu and was later crowned Miss International Canada 2022.
On December 13, 2022, Kvaltin represented Canada at Miss International 2022 and competed against 65 other candidates at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Jasmin Selberg, then 22, of Germany won the title while Kvaltin finished in the Top 8.
On January 14, 2023, Tu represented Canada at Miss Universe 2022 and competed against 82 other candidates at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. She finished in the Top 16 while R’Bonney Gabriel, then 28, of the U.S. won the title.
Miss Universe 2023
On August 19, 2023, Kvaltin represented Manitoulin Island at Miss Universe Canada 2023 at the River Rock Casino in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. She won the title, besting competed 57 other candidates including Rincon, who finished in the Top 10, and Bailey, who was first runner-up.
On November 18, 2023, Kvaltin will represent Canada at Miss Universe 2023 in San Salvador, El Salvador. She will compete against more than 80 other candidates including Guatemala’s Michelle Cohn, 28, a mother of two, and the Netherlands’ Rikkie Kolle, 22, a transwoman.
