Joanne Marie Estorco Thornley, 22, is a Filipino stylist, model and beauty queen from Balibago, Angeles City, Philippines. She is of Canadian descent and she is 5’10” tall.
An aspiring designer, Thornley has obtained an online certification in fashion merchandising from The New School, which is based in New York City, New York, United States. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in fashion design at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in Malate, Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines.
On December 8, 2022, Thornley competed against 18 other Mutya Ning Angeles 2022 candidates at Grand Palazzo Royale in Angeles City and won the title, which came with a crown and various prizes worth 1 million pesos ($17,890). The chairman of the board of judges was Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup-Lee, who is currently the Miss Universe Philippines national director.
On January 26, 2023, Thornley was a guest on Angeles City mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr.‘s program “Lingkod Bayad”. They talked about their advocacies that involving helping Aeta communities.
On December 11, 2023, Thornley represented Angeles at Mutya Ning Kapampangan 2023 and competed against 21 other candidates at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga, Philippines. She was runner-up to Salma Emam of Porac.
On January 22, 2024, Thornley received a certificate of commendation and a cash incentive worth 15,000 pesos ($269) from Lazatin. On February 7, 2024, the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde student was officially appointed Miss Universe Angeles 2024, making her Angeles City’s Miss Universe Philippines 2024 candidate.
Including Thornley, 60 women will compete for the right to represent the Philippines at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico. Among her fellow candidates are Cyrille Payumo, 26, of Pampanga, Mariztella Lat, 23, of Batangas, Deanna Marie Mate, 22, of Cavite, and Maria Ahtisa Manalo, 26, of Quezon.
