Navjot Kaur, 27, of Auckland, New Zealand is a member of the Sikh community and a former officer. She is a New Zealand citizen and an overseas citizen of India.
In the 1990s, Kaur’s family migrated from India to New Zealand. That was before she was born.
Kaur grew up in a state house in Manurewa, South Auckland, Auckland. She and her siblings were raised by a single mother.
In 2019, Kaur graduated from the Royal New Zealand Police College in Porirua, Wellington, New Zealand. For two years, she was on the beat in South Auckland.
Eventually, working as a police officer drained Kaur emotionally. So in 2021, she decided to leave the force and pursue personal training.
Recently, Kaur acquired her real estate license. On February 4, 2024, she, her sister Isha Kaur and 14 other women joined the rapid-fire selection process of Miss World New Zealand 2023 in Auckland, which was organized by Miss World New Zealand national director Nigel Godfrey.
Miss Universe New Zealand 2016 Tania Dawson, Miss Queen Transexual New Zealand 2016 Cecilia Kang, “Dancing with the Stars New Zealand” Season 3 runner-up Megan Alatini, Fiona Tarlton, Aloha Quitat and Tracey-Maree Houia served as the judges. They selected Navjot as Miss World New Zealand 2023.
Including Navjot, 120 women will compete for the Miss World 2023 title. This makes her the first ever Sikh woman to represent New Zealand in Miss World.
On March 9, 2024, the coronation ceremony will be held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India. Among Navjot’s fellow candidates are Sini Shetty, 22, of India and Kristen Wright, 24, of Australia.
