Arvin Joseph H. Mirasol, 34, of San Jose, Batangas, Philippines is a Royal Caribbean stateroom attendant. He lived in Royal Caribbean’s PortMiami headquarters in Miami, Florida, United States.
Royal Caribbean owns and operates the Symphony of the Seas, an Oasis-class cruise ship. It was built in the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France in 2018.
Mirasol’s wife Shermaine Abuzo Mirasol, 30, is an MSC Cruises guest service agent. On May 11, 2022, they got married.
While working as a cabin attendant on the Symphony of the Seas, Arvin allegedly affixed a camera to the counter underneath the sink in a cabin of a ship that left Florida on February 24, 2024. A woman who shared the cabin with her sister and her mother found the camera on February 25, 2024.
On February 26, 2024, the woman who found the camera notified security. While she was speaking to the officers, he showed up at the cabin.
The officers detained Arvin until the ship docked in Port Everglades, Florida. On March 3, 2024, Arvin was arrested after the Symphony of the Seas returned to Port Everglades.
Several videos of naked females and child pornography were found in Arvin’s electronic devices. One video showed how he installed the camera inside the cabin.
Arvin was booked into the main jail of the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was charged with six counts of video voyeurism.
