Miss World 2023 Krystyna Pyszková, 25, of Trinec, Czech Republic was crowned in Mumbai, India. She is the second Miss World from Czech Republic following Taťána Kuchařová, 36, who was crowned in 2006.
Hosted by Karan Johar, 51, of India and Miss World 2013 Megan Young, 34 of the Philippines, the Miss World 2023 coronation ceremony was held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India on May 9, 2023. Representing the Czech Republic, Pyszková won the title.
Including Pyszková, a total of 112 candidates competed for the crown. It is the 71st edition of the world’s oldest active international beauty pageant.
Runner-up to Yasmina Zaytoun, 21, of Lebanon, who was crowned Miss World Asia and Oceania 2023. In the Top 4 were Miss World Africa 2023 Lesego Chombo, 24, of Botswana and Miss World Caribbean 2023 Aché Abrahams, 24, of Trinidad and Tobago.
Pyszková first won the Miss World Europe 2023 title. It was given to Jessica Gagen, 27, of England after the Czech candidate won the Miss World 2023 title.
Gagen finished in the Top 8 along with Miss World Americas 2023 Leticia Frota, 20, of Brazil, Miss World Oceania 2023 Kristen Wright, 24, of Australia, Sini Shetty, 22, of India and Hannah Tumukunde, 20, of Uganda. Maria Victoria Bayo, 24, of the Dominican Republic, Liza Gundowry, 26, of Mauritius and Paula Pérez, 27, of Spain finished in the Top 12.
The panel of judges had 11 members including Miss World 2004 Maju Mantilla García, 39, of Peru and Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, 26, of India. The coronation ceremony was also attended by Miss World 1975 Wilnelia Merced, 66, of Puerto Rico, Miss World 1986 Giselle Laronde, 60, of Trinidad and Tobago, Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna, 31, of Spain, Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle, 27, of Puerto Rico and Miss World 2018 Vanessa Ponce, 32, of Mexico.
