Ksenia Karelina Khavana, 33, of Los Angeles, California, United States did send $51.8 to Razom for Ukraine, a nonprofit organization in New York, USA that sends assistance to Ukraine. This was after Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
Because of this, Khavana was arrested in Yekaterinburg, Russia on January 27, 2024 while she was on her way to visit her parents. On February 7, 2024, she was detained on treason charges.
On February 20, 2024, Khavana made her initial appearance in court. That day, Russia’s Federal Security Service said she was involved in providing financial assistance to a foreign state in activities directed against the security of Russia.
On August 15, 2024, Khavana appeared in a Russian court. She was convicted of treason and sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Who is Ksenia Khavana ?
Khavana is a citizen of both Russia and the U.S. She is an alumna of Gymnasium № 8 “Diaghilev Lyceum” and Urals Federal University, which are both in Yekaterinburg.
In January 2016, Khavana was in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. In February 2016, she went to Washington, D.C., USA; Pikesville, Maryland, USA and Carroll Valley, Pennsylvania, USA.
In June 2019, Khavana started working as a spa manager at SLS Hotel, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Beverly Hills in Los Angeles. In 2021, she received U.S. citizenship.
