Magomed Ankalaev, 32, of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia was one of the winners at the Ultimate Fighting Championship event “UFC 308”. It marked his 14th bout in the mixed martial arts promotion based in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
Born and raised in Makhachkala, Ankalaev attended Dagestan State University in Makhachkala. Before joining the UFC, he competed in Oplot Challenge, Tesla Fighting Championship and World Fighting Championship Akhmat.

With 13 matches on the card, “UFC 308” was held at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on October 26, 2024. In the 11th bout, Ankalaev fought Aleksandar “Rocket” Rakic, 32, of Vienna, Austria in the light heavyweight division.
Vitor Ribeiro served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, he raised the hand of Ankalaev, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
The loss downgraded Rakic’s professional MMA record to 14 wins and 5 losses. Ankalaev now has 19 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 1 No Contest.
This is Ankalaev’s 12th UFC win. The first opponents he defeated in the promotion are Marcin Prachnio, Klidson Abreu, Dalcha Lungiambula, Ion Cutelaba, Nikita Krylov, Volkan Oezdemir, Thiago Santos, Anthony Smith and Johnny Walker.
On February 29, 2020, Ankalaev defeated Cutelaba via technical knockout at “UFC Fight Night 169” in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. On October 24, 2020, the former knocked out the latter at “UFC 254” in Abu Dhabi.
When Ankalaev fought Walker at “UFC 294” in Abu Dhabi, it was declared a No Contest due to illegal knee. On January 13, 2024, the former knocked out the latter at “UFC Vegas 84” in Enterprise, Nevada.
