Rolando Delgado
Rolando Delgado of Little Rock, Arkansas, United States was 22 years old when he fought Cuban-Peruvian-American mixed martial artist Jorge J. Masvidal Jr. of Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA at the HOOKnSHOOT event “Absolute Fighting Championships 5” on September 5, 2003. The latter was 18 years old.
Based in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana, USA, HOOKnSHOOT held “AFC 5” at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida. There were nine MMA matches on the card.
The third match was a welterweight bout between Masvidal and Delgado. The referee stopped the fight after 2 minutes and 14 seconds of the second round.
Masvidal defeated Delgado via technical knockout via punches. It was the third professional MMA win of the fighter from Miami.

Jorge Masvidal
Masvidal was born in Miami to Jorge Masvidal Fernandez Sr., 47, and Maria Carmen Masvidal, 41. Jorge Sr. is Cuban while Maria is Peruvian.
In 1971, Jorge Sr. immigrated from Cuba to the U.S. In 1989, he was imprisoned for drug trafficking.
When Jorge Jr. was a child, he was told his father was in the U.S. Army. In 1997, the teenager found out the truth about his father being in prison and started visiting him there regularly.
Raised in Miami, Jorge Jr. attended St. Brendan High School in Westchester, Miami-Dade County. While in high school, he competed in wrestling but he failed to stay eligible because of his grades.
On November 12, 2024, Jorge Jr. turned 40. He holds a professional MMA record of 35 wins and 17 losses.
