Spanning 14 islands linked by 57 bridges where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea, Stockholm effortlessly blends natural beauty with cutting-edge urban design. Often referred to as the “Venice of the North,” Sweden’s capital is a city defined by its water, open spaces, and forward-thinking ethos.

At the heart of the city lies Gamla Stan (the Old Town), a historic labyrinth of cobblestone streets, ochre-colored 17th-century buildings, and the majestic Royal Palace. A short distance away on the island of Djurgården sits the world-famous Vasa Museum, home to a fully preserved warship that sank on its maiden voyage in 1628.

Yet, Stockholm is far from stuck in the past. It stands as a global hub for technology, design, and culture, giving birth to global giants like Spotify and pioneering modern sustainability initiatives. Locals embrace fika—the cherished Swedish ritual of slowing down over coffee and pastries—alongside a vibrant culinary scene and world-class arts, including a subway system often dubbed the world’s longest art gallery.

Combining centuries of preserved heritage with a progressive lifestyle, Stockholm remains one of Europe’s most captivating and dynamic capitals.
