CNA, the flagship international news network under Singapore’s Mediacorp, has doubled its global distribution to reach more than 180 million homes and connected devices worldwide. The milestone follows a concerted two-year rollout of its Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) channel, CNA Originals, across Europe and North America.

The expansion enables audiences in key Western markets—including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and the Nordics—to access CNA’s long-form documentaries, current affairs programming, and flagship news bulletins “Asia Tonight” and “East Asia Tonight”.
The FAST channel is now accessible via platforms including Airtime, Amasian, Bolt+, Distro TV, Freeview, Rakuten TV, Serially, VIDAA, and Whale TV+.
Berlin showcase highlights Asian perspective
To mark the international expansion following previous events in Washington D.C. and London, CNA hosted a two-day brand showcase in Berlin, Germany.
On March 6, an invitation-only event brought together approximately 250 diplomats, policymakers, academics, and business executives. Hosted by CNA presenter Otelli Edwards, the evening featured screening sessions and discussions with key network journalists:
- Asia-Pacific Coverage: Senior Correspondent Lim Yun Suk (Seoul) and Correspondent Saksith Saiyasombut (Bangkok) led a panel on daily news reporting across the region.
- Current Affairs: Executive Producer Daniel Heng presented insights from CNA’s award-winning current affairs show Insight.
- Special Documentaries: Senior Producer Shahul Hameed fronted a discussion on the network’s investigative documentary The Nuclear Option.
The showcase was followed by a public event on March 7 at the Mall of Berlin, drawing nearly 3,000 attendees for screenings, cultural activities, and live performances.
Investing in on-the-ground Asian journalism
CNA editor-in-chief Walter Fernandez emphasized the network’s commitment to providing deep contextual reporting on Asian affairs at a time when many global news outlets are downsizing foreign bureaus.
“We strive to help global audiences ‘Understand Asia’. This requires providing them with more than just data points. It requires depth, context, analysis, nuance, and cultural fluency,” said Fernandez. “At a time when major newsrooms around the world are cutting back on their international coverage, CNA continues to invest in correspondents and bureaus. Being Asian and being on the ground, our correspondents can deliver reports and analyses which are not only deeper, but which come with an understanding of events which goes beyond what meets the eye.”
Headquartered in Singapore, CNA maintains a network of roughly 50 correspondents globally, with 35 stationed in major Asian cities. Since 2013, the brand has earned over 650 international honors, including accolades from the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards, Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, and the International Emmy Awards.
