Wyndham Robert Clark, the winner of the 2026 United States Open Championship, is a resident of Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. Born in Denver, Colorado, USA, he is the second among the three children of Randall Clark and Lise Gabrielle Dominique Thevenet.
On May 21, 1981, Lise represented New Mexico, USA at Miss USA 1981 and competed against 49 other candidates at the Gulf Coast Convention Center in Biloxi, Mississippi, USA. She was unplaced.
2026 US Open
Organized by the U.S. Golf Association (USGA), the 2026 US Open was held at the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York, USA from June 18–21, 2026. It was the 126th edition of the national open golf championship of the country and the sixth time it was hosted at the club.
True to the grueling nature of the tournament, nothing comes easily at a US Open. Wyndham proved that yet again on Father’s Day, enduring a roller-coaster final round at Shinnecock Hills to secure his second US Open championship in four years. What began as a comfortable procession turned into a high-stakes psychological thriller, but he ultimately held his nerve to secure a wire-to-wire, one-stroke victory.
Entering the final round with a massive six-shot cushion, Wyndham looked poised for a stress-free stroll through the Hamptons. However, Shinnecock Hills and a vocal New York crowd—largely pulling for Scottie Scheffler’s career Grand Slam bid—had other plans. Within just five holes, Wyndham’s commanding lead was whittled down to a single stroke.
As the pressure mounted, Sam Burns mounted a furious charge, firing a sensational final-round 67 to finish at 3-under par. With the field closing in, Wyndham showed the championship mettle that first emerged during his 2023 breakthrough at Los Angeles Country Club.
The turning point arrived on the par-5 16th hole. After an errant drive, Wyndham recovered brilliantly to sink a crucial birdie, pushing his lead back to two. A tense three-putt bogey on the 17th meant he took a slim one-shot advantage to the 18th tee. Facing a difficult lie in the rough, he safely found the green and executed a clutch 50-foot, two-putt par to finish at 4-under 276.
The victory was particularly sweet for Wyndham, who became the tournament’s first wire-to-wire winner since Martin Kaymer in 2014. It served as professional redemption after a frustrating 2025 campaign that saw Wyndham miss the cut at Oakmont.
“The first one was kind of just the breakthrough of knowing I can do it,” Wyndham reflected after receiving the trophy. “And then this one was a lot of redemption… I’m leaving here this Sunday as a champion.”
Exacting revenge on a course that had tested his limits, Wyndham also walked away with a record-setting $4.5 million winner’s share from the $22.5 million purse. Surrounded by family, including a Father’s Day surprise from his father, Wyndham cemented his legacy as one of golf’s premier big-stage competitors.
