Hudson DeVaughan has established himself as one of the most promising young pitching talents in high school baseball. Hailing from Mooresville, Indiana, United States where he attended Mooresville High School, the right-handed pitcher built an impressive prep career defined by consistency and dominance on the mound.

Serving as a key starting pitcher for the Mooresville Pioneers, DeVaughan put together an unblemished 16-0 career record while recording 216 strikeouts, helping lead his team to an Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Class 4A state championship appearance during his sophomore season.
DeVaughan’s athletic background runs deep. His mother Heather DeVaughan was a standout volleyball player for the Florida Gators of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, USA while his father Derek DeVaughan played college baseball at the same university and Seminole State College of Florida in Sanford, Florida.
Carrying that pedigree to the diamond, Hudson earned Mid-State All-Conference honors throughout his high school career and earned national recognition as a two-time Preseason Underclassmen All-American. Scouting evaluation services ranked him as the No. 2 right-handed pitcher and the fifth-overall recruit in Indiana.
Equipped with a repertoire that features a mid-90s fastball, a low-90s cutter, a looping curveball, and a high-potential slider, Hudson emerged as a fast riser during the 2026 draft evaluation cycle. His combination of physical size, arm velocity, and athletic upside made him a highly recruited talent.
On January 9, 2027, Hudson will turn 20. He is 6’5″ tall.

Hudson has a brother named Dayton Devaughan and a sister named Elle Devaughan. Their father was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 23rd round of the 1997 Major League Baseball draft, which was held from June 2–3, 1997.
From July 11-12, 2026, the 2026 MLB draft was held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. In the draft, the Kansas City Royals selected Hudson in the 19th round with the 569th overall pick. He was viewed by evaluators as a high-upside late-round sleeper.
Prior to the 2026 MLB draft, Hudson committed to play college baseball for the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA. He entered as the highest-rated high school pitcher in the Crimson Tide’s incoming recruiting class.
