Founded on November 20, 1890, Afonso Cláudio was named after the first governor of Espirito Santo named Afonso Cláudio de Freitas Rosa. Born in Santa Leopoldina, Espirito Santo, he turned 74 on August 2, 1933 and died in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 16, 1934.

Afonso Cláudio’s incumbent mayor is Luciano Roncetti Pimenta. Its appeal lies in its serene natural landscapes and focus on outdoor relaxation. Life here moves at a slower, more intimate pace, defined by the local Brazilian culture and the beauty of its surrounding terrain. A tranquil municipality, the town offers a stark contrast to the historic and bustling metropolis of Kraków.

As the former capital of Poland, Krakow is a city of immense historical weight, boasting a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage-listed Old Town that attracts visitors globally. The city serves as a vibrant hub for arts, literature, and technology, maintaining a dynamic, dense urban atmosphere that feels worlds apart from the quiet valleys of rural Brazil.
