From Bacolod to Manila
Like Bryant, Tracy Mae Sunio is from Bacolod. On July 18, 2026, she will represent the city at Binibining Pilipinas 2026 and compete against 34 other candidates at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila.
Bacolod is geographically located in Negros Occidental, Philippines but is administratively independent from the province. The city is around 711 kilometers away from Manila, the capital city of the county.
Manila is the center of commerce and high-end urban living, hosting the country’s most competitive job markets and premier shopping districts. However, this intensity comes with challenges, most notably notorious traffic congestion and a significantly higher cost of living. For many, the city is a place of ambition, where the fast-paced, cutthroat professional environment is seen as a necessary forge for growth and success.
In contrast, Bacolod City offers a more balanced, provincial-yet-urban lifestyle. It is prized for its affordability, with housing and daily expenses significantly lower than in the capital. It is celebrated for its warm community, renowned culinary scene—famously home to authentic Chicken Inasal—and a more relaxed daily rhythm.
