Leonardo Pita Leça, 27, has been officially sashed in Poland as Curacao’s Mister Supranational 2026 representative. In his acceptance speech, he drew a poetic parallel between his home island and his goal on stage, stating that just like the bright, beautiful sun shines on the island country every day, he was there to help Mister Supranational shine brightly on the world stage.

If Leça wins, he will be the pageant’s first Curacaoan winner. The title was won by Diego Garcy of Mexico in 2016, Gabriel Correa of Venezuela in 2017, Prathamesh Maulingkar of India in 2018, Nate Crnkovich of the United States in 2019, Varo Vargas of Peru in 2021, Luis Daniel Galvez of Cuba in 2022, Ivan Alvarez Guedes of Spain in 2023, Fezile Mkhize of South Africa in 2024 and Swann Lavigne of France in 2025.

At 16 years old, Leça left Curacao to finish high school in Canada. His parents are originally from Madeira, one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal.

After high school, Leça took a gap year and traveled around the world. For three months, he participated in a nongovernment program in Costa Rica.

“I was focused on this program, which was focused on giving basic education to kids who could not attend school for various reasons,” Leça shared. “Throughout this trip, I quickly realized that life was much more enjoyable when focused on giving to others.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology in Canada, Leça went back to Curacao. He said, “Today, I have the absolute honor of representing Curaçao.”

“We are a hidden gem in the Caribbean, defined by a rich multicultural heritage,” Leça continued. “This country became a home to my immigrant parents, who traveled by boat for 17 days from the Portuguese island of Madeira.”

For Leça, the things that make Curacao truly special to him are its beautiful, crystal-clear waters, consistent warm weather and endless opportunities. He said, “Here, I am free to be myself—to hit the gym, run my family business, and enjoy the simple pleasures that this island has to offer.”

“I wish to show the world that I can be an exemplary ambassador for the Supranational mission of breaking down barriers and inspiring others,” the Portuguese-Curacaoan beauty king continued. “Just as our island of Curaçao has reached its first-ever World Cup in history, I too wish to be the first representative of Curaçao to be crowned Mister Supranational.”

On July 4, 2024, Mkhize won Mister Supranational 2024 at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheater in Nowy Sacz, Małopolska, Poland where he competed against 35 other candidates. Curacao was not represented.

On June 28, 2025, Lavigne won Mister Supranational 2025 at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheater. He competed against 37 other candidates including Zuemerik Veeris of Curacao, who was the first runner-up.

On July 21, 2026, Lavigne sashed the Mister Supranational 2026 candidates at Hotel Krakow in Krakow, Poland. He was accompanied by the reigning Miss Supranational 2025 Eduarda da Silva Braum, 25, of Brazil.

On August 1, 2026, Lavigne will go back to the Strzelecki Park Amphitheater to crown his successor. Mkhize and Ida Nowakowska of Poland will host the coronation ceremony, which will feature performances by FiśBanda, Mateusz Ziółko, Oktavvia and Tatiana Okupnik.
