From Brazil to Poland

Despite being separated by the Atlantic Ocean, Brazil and Poland share an enduring connection defined by historical cultural ties and expanding economic partnerships. The foundation of their relationship was established in the late 19th century, when waves of Polish immigrants migrated to southern Brazil, particularly settling in the state of Paraná.
Today, Brazil contains the largest Polish diaspora in Latin America, with community estimates placing the population of Polish descendants between 1.5 and 3 million. Following World War I, official bilateral diplomatic relations between both nations were formally established on May 27, 1920.
Economically, Brazil serves as Poland’s primary trading partner in Latin America. Bilateral trade relies on complementary market strengths: Brazil exports agricultural and mineral commodities such as soybeans, coffee, and copper ore, while Poland supplies industrial machinery, chemical products, and automotive components. Aviation highlights their commercial bond, with Polish flag carrier LOT Airlines operating a fleet of regional jets manufactured by Brazil’s Embraer.
