David Jonsson is an alumnus of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England, United Kingdom. Born and raised in London, he will turn 33 on September 4, 2026.
“Black Panther 3“
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially preparing to pass the mantle to a new generation. During Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in San Diego, California, United States on July 26, 2026, Ryan Coogler announced that Jonsson has been cast as the adult T’Challa II in “Black Panther 3“. Scheduled for theatrical release on December 15, 2028, the third installment promises to usher Wakanda into a bold new era.
The introduction of T’Challa II marks a major turning point for the franchise. The character—also known by his Haitian legal name, Toussaint—was first revealed during the emotional post-credits scene of the 2022 film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. Played as a young child by Divine Love Konadu-Sun, he was introduced as the secret son of Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and the late King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman). Raised away from the political pressures and royal duties of Wakanda, his existence was kept hidden until his mother introduced him to his aunt, Shuri (Letitia Wright).
“Black Panther 3” will jump forward in time to follow the coming-of-age journey of the adult prince as he claims his birthright, embraces his father’s legacy, and sets his sights on the throne of Wakanda. Taking the stage at Comic-Con alongside returning cast members Letitia Wright and Winston Duke, Jonsson’s casting signals a monumental next chapter for the series. Coogler also revealed that the film will break technical ground as the first Marvel Cinematic Universe entry to be shot entirely on large-format celluloid film. The sequel will feature a high-profile ensemble cast, including legendary actor Denzel Washington in a role written specifically for him by Coogler.
Born in Mount Vernon, New York, USA, Washington turned 71 on December 28, 2025. He will also star in the heist film “Here Comes the Flood” with London native Robert Pattinson.

Nathan Bryon and Tom Melia wrote “Rye Lane”, which marked the feature directorial debut on Raine Allen-Miller and the feature film debut of Jonsson. The film featured a cameo appearance on Colin Firth, a native of Grayshott, Hampshire, England.
