Located in Carles, Iloilo, Philippines, the Gigantes Islands are among the most underrated tourist spots in the world. One of the beauty kings who have visited the island chain is Manhunt International Male Supermodel 2022 and Mister World Oceania 2024 Lochlan “Lochie” Carey of Australia.
Lochie Carey
Born and raised in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Carey is an alumnus of McKinnon Secondary College and John Monash Science School, which are both in Melbourne. In 2018, he started modeling professionally.
On November 15, 2019, Carey competed against 15 other Manhunt Australia Male Model of the Year 2019 candidates and did not make it to the Top 3. In July 2022, he was appointed Manhunt Australian Male Supermodel 2022.
On October 1, 2022, Carey represented Australia at Manhunt International Male Supermodel 2022 and competed against 33 other candidates at the Okada Manila in Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines. He won the title.
On July 15, 2023, Mikaela-Rose Fowler won Miss Grand Australia 2023 at the RACV City Club in Melbourne. She competed against 29 other candidates including Paitin Louise Powell and Selina McCloskey, the respective first and third runners-up.
In March 2024, Carey traveled to the Gigantes Islands with Fowler, Powell and McCloskey. On October 21, 2024, he was officially appointed Mister World Australia 2024.
On November 23, 2024, Carey represented Australia at Mister World 2024 and competed against 59 other candidates at NovaWorld in Phan Thiết, Bình Thuận, Vietnam including Daniel Mejia of Puerto Rico, who won the title. The Australian candidate was unplaced but he was crowned Mister World Oceania 2024.
Gigantes Islands
In March 2025, Carey went back to the Gigantes Islands with Verity Runje. In a social media post, he described it as “an incredible experience”.
“This time we were finally able to give back to the islands!” Carey wrote. He thanked the Ringwood City Soccer Club, which is based in Ringwood, Victoria, for “helping make this happen”.
On March 3, 2026, Carles observed World Wildlife Day by drawing attention to the critical conservation of Platymantis insulatus, which is entirely endemic to the limestone woodlands and cave habitats of the Gigantes Islands. On March 22, 2026, Carey took to social media to share photos from his recent visit to the islands with Runje.
According to Carey, an incredible collaboration allowed them to donate hundreds of items—including clothing and sports supplies—to the children living on the islands. He expressed gratitude to the following organizations and individuals for making the charity event possible:

- Premier Motorgroup, an automotive dealership in Melbourne
- P3 Recovery Bayside, a recovery and wellbeing center in Mentone, Victoria

- Thrive Stronger Coaching, a coaching service based in Mount Waverley
The Gigantes Islands continue to attract notable visitors. In June 2026, Mister Sasmuan 2026 Mark John “MJ” Gonzales visited the islands and from July 3–5, 2026, Filipino actor, model and singer Kelvin Miranda is scheduled to visit the islands to attend the Hinugyaw sa Kadagatan Festival 2026.
