Kelcia Marie Nelson graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Georgetown, Guyana in 2016. After her Miss World Guyana 2026 coronation, she went back to the school to present Her First Lesson, an early intervention curriculum for girls ages 13–19.

According to Nelson, the curriculum was designed to interrupt patterns of toxic dependency and domestic vulnerability before harm occurs. After introducing it to the students of the school, she stated, “The session was filled with meaningful conversations, interactive activities, reflection, and honest discussions about the choices that shape our futures long before we fully understand their consequences.”

From Nelson’s alma mater, she continued to deliver the curriculum to students of East Ruimveldt Secondary School in Georgetown and to the young women of Malali, Upper Demerara-Berbice, Guyana. She thanked FutureCare Pharmacy for sponsoring the participant gift packages and supporting the initiative.

Nelson was born in Linden, Upper Demerara-Berbice. In 2024, she graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada with a bachelor’s degree in applied communications, leadership and culture.

On May 8, 2026, Nelson turned 27. On May 24, 2026, she was officially appointed Miss World Guyana 2026 by Majesty Talent Management Inc., the exclusive national franchise holder for Miss World Guyana and Mister World Guyana, and crowned by Miss World Guyana 2024 Zalika Samuels at the Pegasus Exhibition Hall in Georgetown.

In the same event, Jenica Walcott was named the Miss World Guyana 2026 Heiress and first runner-up. She will undertake national and local representational duties while Nelson prepares to represent Guyana internationally.
