Matthias Schoenaerts played Lem Getwiller in the mystery comedy thriller film “Amsterdam” and Krem of the Yellow Hills in the superhero film “Supergirl”. Born in Antwerp, Flanders, Belgium, he turned 48 on December 8, 2025.
Schoenaerts speaks Dutch, French and English and he is 6′ 1½″ tall. The Antwerp native’s mother Dominique Wiche was a costume designer, a translator and a French teacher while his father Julien Schoenaerts was also an actor.
“Amsterdam“
Written and directed by David O. Russell, “Amsterdam” is based on the Business Plot, a political conspiracy in 1933 in the United States to overthrow the government of the country’s 32nd president Franklin D. Roosevelt and install U.S. Marine Corps officer Smedley Butler as dictator.
The murder of U.S. Army general Bill Meekins, played by Ed Begley Jr., is the catalyst for events in the film. The character’s daughter Elizabeth Meekins is played by Taylor Swift.
Released in the U.S. on October 7, 2022, the film stars Christian Bale as a doctor and a war veteran named Burt Berendsen and Margot Robbie as a nurse named Valerie Voze. Their co-stars include Andrea Riseborough as Burt’s estranged wife Beatrice Vandenheuvel, Rami Malek as Valerie’s brother Tom Voze, Anya Taylor-Joy as Tom’s wife Libby Voze, John David Washington as a lawyer and a war veteran named Harold Woodman and Timothy Olyphant as a hitman named Tarim Milfax.

On June 22, 2026, the film premiered in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA. It is scheduled for a wide theatrical release across the country on June 26, 2026.
