Honda is based in Toranomon, Minato, Tokyo, Japan. Its North American subsidiary is based in Torrance, California, United States.

In the U.S., the company is addressing two distinct, large-scale safety campaigns. Based in Washington, D.C., USA, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that the company is recalling 1,049,883 vehicles in the country due to a defect in their tire repair kits.

According to federal regulators, the issue stems from a faulty sealant bottle where excessive pressure can accumulate. This pressure buildup risks causing the bottle cap to violently detach and turn into a dangerous projectile inside or around the vehicle. The affected lineup includes certain models of the Honda Accord Hybrid, CR-V Hybrid, and CR-V Fuel Cell EV. To resolve the safety risk, dealerships will replace either the sealant bottle or the tire repair kit nozzle entirely free of charge.

Simultaneously, Honda has issued a separate recall impacting 880,514 SUVs and pickup trucks across the U.S.. This campaign targets a vital rear suspension component that is vulnerable to severe rust, which could lead to structural failure and increase the likelihood of a crash. The affected models span several years, specifically covering the:

  • 2014–2020 Acura MDX
  • 2016–2022 Honda Pilot
  • 2017–2023 Honda Ridgeline
  • 2019–2023 Honda Passport

The core of the problem lies in the vehicle’s rear subframe, an underbody structure responsible for supporting the rear suspension. In U.S. regions where road salt is heavily utilized during winter conditions—such as Connecticut, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, and Washington, D.C.—the subframe can experience accelerated corrosion. Over time, this rust thins the metal, and normal driving vibrations can cause the mounting area to fracture. NHTSA warns that drivers might experience unusual vibrations, strange noises from the rear suspension, or sudden changes in vehicle handling.

To remedy this, dealers will inspect the underbody and install a structural reinforcement kit. If structural damage is already present, technicians will replace or repair the subframe components at no cost to the owner. Fortunately, as of May 28, 2026, Honda reported zero injuries or fatalities associated with the subframe issue. These dual campaigns follow closely on the heels of another recent Honda recall involving nearly 99,000 vehicles that faced potential unexpected airbag deployments.

On May 24, 2026, the 2026 Indianapolis 500 was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana, USA. In first place was Felix Rosenqvist of Meyer Shank Racing, which is based in Pataskala, Ohio.

JP Suozzi helped Rosenqvist win the IndyCar Series race. Assigned to the team for Meyer Shank Racing, the former trackside monitored the car’s engine for the race.

In 2025, Suozzi graduated from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, which has several connections to Honda. He works as the trackside engineer for the company’s motorsport subsidiary Honda Racing Corporation.
